# How to change Mail Server Settings on Apple Mail application

Changing the Incoming and Outgoing Server Settings in Apple Mail Application

The steps in this article will show you how to change the server settings for your existing email account in the Apple Mail application. This includes the incoming and outgoing servers that your email account connects to for mail that you send, and mail that you receive.

  1. Open the Apple Mail Application.
  2. Select the “Mail” tab then proceed to click “Preferences” from the drop down menu.

    UN-check “Automatically manages connection settings”. The Port field and Use TLS/SSL checkbox then appear, then proceed to manually enter the server settings as shown on step 4.

  4. Edit the Host Name fields to match your new incoming & outgoing servers. And to edit the Incoming/Outgoing ports. When done click SAVE, then your Apple Mail application will make sure that it can connect to your email servers. Otherwise it will close the account settings window.

  1. Open Outlook Application.
  2. Click the “File” tab at the top-left of the window.

  3. Click the “Account Settings” button, then click “Account Settings” from the drop-down list.

  4. Click the email account that you would like to modify from the list at the center of the window, then click the “Repair” button. This will take you directly to the server settings window whereas clicking “Change” will take you to a general settings window.

  5. An addition dialogue box will appear. Tick the box under “Advanced options” to allow you to manually configure the server settings. Then click “Repair”.

  6. Click inside the “Incoming mail server” & “Outgoing mail server” fields to change the respective settings. Once you are done, click the “Repair” button at the bottom of the window. On some versions of outlook, you will have to click “Next”.

    then your Outlook application will make sure that it can connect to your email servers. Otherwise it will close the account settings window.

# How to change Mail Server Settings on ThunderBird application

The steps in this article will show you how to change the server settings for you r existing email account in ThunderBird application. This includes the incoming and outgoing servers that your email account connects to for mail that you send, and mail that you receive.

  1. Open ThunderBird Application.
  2. Click the desired mailbox to reveal the options page, then proceed to click on the “Account Settings” tab at the top right handside of the window.

  3. Under the “Account Settings” window, click “Server Settings” from the drop down list and proceed to replace the incoming server settings under the “Server Name” input field and corresponding port number.

  4. Click on the “Outgoing Server” tab, from the drop down list that appears proceed to select the desired outgoing server and proceed to modify the settings from the list at the window were applicable, then click “OK”.

  5. An addition dialogue box will appear prompting you to enter the password. Then click “OK”.

    At this point your ThunderBird application will make sure that it can connect to your email servers. Alternatively, it will close the account settings window.

This will conclude the setup process and you may proceed to utilize your mailbox as intended.

# How to set up a mail account with POP?

  • Click FileInfoAdd account.
    The Outlook-Assistant for setting up a new account will open.
  • Enter an e-mail address to add your account.
  • Click on Advanced options and check the box for Let me set up my account manually.
  • Click on Connect.
  • Choose the account type POP.
    The dialog POP Account Settings will open.
  • Take the following settings:
    a. Incoming mail: Enter pop.liquidmail.tech with port 995 and check the option This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL/TLS).
    b. Outgoing mail: Enter smtp.liquidmail.tech with port 587 the encryption method TLS (recommended) – If selecting SSL use port 465.

    The above steps will create a new mailbox on the customers computer.

Adding/Opening an old PST /profile in a new account setup on Outlook

  • Select File>Open & Export>Open Outlook Data File.

    Locate and select the Outlook Data File (.pst), and then select Open.
  • Once you open the Outlook Data File (.pst), the file will appear in your folder pane. Usually, you'll find it at the bottom of the list of folders. The following image is an example.
