Changing the Incoming and Outgoing Server Settings in Apple Mail Application
The steps in this article will show you how to change the server settings for your existing email account in the Apple Mail application. This includes the incoming and outgoing servers that your email account connects to for mail that you send, and mail that you receive.
-
Open the Apple Mail Application.
-
Select the “Mail” tab then proceed to click “Preferences” from the drop down menu.
-
Under “Accounts”, Click the “Server Settings” tab.
UN-check “Automatically manages connection settings”. The Port field and Use TLS/SSL checkbox then appear, then proceed to manually enter the server settings as shown on step 4.
-
Edit the Host Name fields to match your new incoming & outgoing servers. And to edit the Incoming/Outgoing ports. When done click SAVE, then your Apple Mail application will make sure that it can connect to your email servers. Otherwise it will close the account settings window.
This will conclude the setup process and you may proceed to utilize your mailbox as intended.
