Startups from 18 African countries to compete for $1 million

African startups to pitch for funding at Seedstars global final in April. The startups are from 18 African countries and will take part in the Seedstars Summit in Switzerland. The summit according to Disrupt Africa will give startups the opportunity to pitch for up to US$1 million in equity investment, which will undoubtedly kick start their companies, elevating them to the next level.

The Startups were selected during the African leg of Seedstars World tour. 
Those companies will now have the opportunity to pitch at the Seedstars Summit, where up to US$1 million of equity investment will be awarded to winners, as well as prizes worth over US$90,000 from over 20 partners including AWS, Microsoft and Facebook Start.

South African recruitment startup Giraffe was the overall winner of last year’s event, which was attended by 800 guests from more than 55 countries and saw 53 startup finalists take part.
This year, 70 handpicked startups from 65 countries will be in attendance, alongside European entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, HNWIs, family offices, corporate executives, business angels, government officials, journalists and startup enthusiasts.

The event will take place on April 6 at the Swiss Tech Convention Centre in Lausanne, where up to US$500,000 in equity investment will be given to the Seedstars World global winner. The best startups in categories such as fintech, education, Intel solutions, most innovative startup, and best woman entrepreneur, as well as the public vote winner, will also be awarded investments and other prizes.
