Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s portrayal of Negan on The Walking Dead is unquestionably and absolutely chilling. From the first moment we caught a glimpse of Morgan jovially swinging around his beloved bat Lucille, it was overwhelmingly clear that Negan was not someone you wanted to mess with.
Even after brutally killing Glenn and Abraham, Negan took things to the next level after almost forcing Rick to cut off Carl’s arm. If The Walking Dead showrunners were intent on portraying Negan as the epitome of pure evil, they succeeded.
For many fans of the show who are unfamiliar with the comics on which the show is based, there was a growing consensus that the rest of season 7 would play out somewhat predictably. Per this theory, Rick and the gang would somehow figure out a way to take the fight to Negan directly, ultimately concluding in a riveting climactic battle between Rick and Negan that would result in the latter’s demise.
Now for any fans who abhor Negan and were hoping to wish this plot line into existence, we have some bad news for you. During an interview with Howard Stern last week, Morgan said that he’s going to be sticking around for season 8 of The Walking Dead.
When asked by Stern about how long his character will remain on the show, Morgan didn’t mince words: “Well, I know that I’ll be around for Season 8.”
We didn’t see Negan at all during last week’s episode of The Walking Dead, but fans of the show can expect some very Negan-heavy storylines both during tonight’s episode and next week’s episode.
