TechnoMag, a local online Technology Magazine has partnered the Government to bring all higher and tertiary students studying ICTs and journalism to converge at Harare Polytechnic College for the national career guidance and technology exhibition. The expo aptly dubbed “Tech@School’ will be officially opened by Higher and Tertiary Education Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo this week.

Tech@School is a TechnoMag initiative supported by the Ministry of ICT Postal and Courier Services in conjunction with the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development and the Ministry of Public Service Labour and Social Welfare to connect Higher and Tertiary institutions to business and the industry.

The institutions taking part in the exhibition include universities, polytechnics and private colleges. The event will be held on Friday (October 30) at Harare Polytechnic College. The permanent secretary in the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development Dr Machivenyika Mauranga said the event was in line with their mandate as Government to connect higher and tertiary students with industry and commerce.

“Connecting our higher and tertiary institutions to business serves a very fundamental purpose as we also showcase the various solutions to industry which our research institutions are working on hence we are inviting all the universities, polytechnics and private owned colleges to also come and showcase their various projects during this day”

The permanent secretary in the ministry of ICT Postal and courier Services engineer Sam Kundishora said the career expo will go a long way to help job seekers identify career opportunities across the technological sector.

Editor in chief of TechnoMag, Mr Toneo Tonderai Rutsito Ndebele said that the event is part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). “We have a national problem where thousands of our graduates are adding to unemployment statistics as life after graduation is no longer promising. “Worse still thousands are finding it difficult to get industrial attachment during their learning course. This event will assist students in learning about the technology sector and help them take advantage of the opportunities there.
