The three months suspensions which meant to be completed by end of this month will not stand and the NetOne board met last week to effect a further extension on the suspensions pending investigation.
The forensic audit started off late after the comptroller general appointed the Price Water Coopers and they may need more time to do the auditing hence the suspension period has been extended, said a close source to the matter.
While, the matter has been handled by the board lately, it seems likely to get even murkier given that the overzealous Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission, ZACC has pounced on various state owned enterprises and the Ministry of ICT Postal and Courier Services as well, as they start their new searches of possible corruption on state owned enterprises.
Reward Kangai as well has been reported to be fighting his way back after lobbying the President of Zimbabwe and the Cabinet as well, crying foul and demanding a commission of inquiry over his matter.
The ICT Minister Supa Mandiwanzira had already indicated that Kangai will face imprisonment if found guilty.
The future for NetOne now hangs in balance as the matter has called in too many interested parties and we wait to see the next turn as the NetOne ship continue to sail in turbulent waters.
The other NetOne executives suspended are Mrs Memory Mandiya Ndoro (executive public relations and special projects), Mr Prosper Muvengwa (executive retail and sales), Mr Lindon Nkomo (legal executive) and Mr Rafael Mushanawani (chief information officer.
